Submerge Painting

Submerge draws inspiration from the calming properties of water. Its also about escapism, and that feeling of being submerged as a release of escape from the outside world. Sounds are muffled and warped as they travel through the dense liquid and our perceptions are altered.This painting is essentially a Waterscape, also inspired by coral reefs and mineral spas. My hope this evokes thoughts of serenity and calm after the storm as well as a semi dream like state. Water has long been linked to emotions particularly in dreams. I choose to work with mediums that often clash or repel each other to get interesting fluid effects, my process can also be seen as metaphorical of chemical reactions that occur in nature. The painting stretched over a premium quality canvas frame and is sealed with a thick high gloss Epoxy Resin top coat. The glassy finish emulates the experience of looking through glass into the beyond.
