Blakelee Pieroni is an immersive media art creator. Her work involves blending original, large scale oil paintings with orchestrated, psychoactive content. She is a mover. Her subject matter begins in the body before any permanence is established. Drawing on the inevitable influences that structure and shape our mental human experience, she paints, with each painting standing for an individual cause. Life’s experiences and passions recur as themes within collections of work: Love, Despair, Nature, Culture, Posthuman Feminism, and Betrayal. Once a piece is created, the process is augmented and displayed over her paintings, creating an immersive reality for the viewer. Large-scale canvases reflect the materiality of mistakes and work in collaboration with new concepts to show the effort and complexities of human consciousness. Pieroni developed her sense of composition first through dance: exploring the dichotomies of movement and stillness, music and silence, light and dark, giving and taking, boundaries and abandon. She attended Marymount Manhattan for a bachelor’s degree in dance media, where she also trained in oil painting and photography. Pieroni began using these mediums in tandem to explore concepts and inform her work, and this method remains integral to her practice. Pieroni has twice choreographed for Marymount Manhattan’s Dancers at Work showcase and was placed in the top ten for choreography at New York Dance Festival. In 2019 she was commissioned by NYA gallery to produce a new body of work and was consigned with 1st Dibs Gallery and Gallery 104. Her paintings feature on custom leotards for professional dance companies made by From Artist to Artist and have been worn by company members of Ballet Hispanico and Martha Graham Dance. Pieroni held residency at at m.t Burton gallery and was recognized as m.t Burton Galleries artist choice for the 2021 season in Bay Magazine. In 2021 Pieroni exhibited her work “Safeguard” NFT at the Everywoman Bienniel Exhibit with Superchief NFT Gallery. This show was featured in Time Out New York. Currently she is in the process of launching her first 10k collectable NFT collection that serves as a running social commentary on current events. Pieroni lives and works in New York City.
