Art Description

Painting: Acrylic, Gesso on Canvas.

Now since returning from being on exhibition this painting is FRAMED in a 2” deep black floater frame. See new photos.

I spend a lot of time hiking and sitting out in front of my house admiring the light in the sky either as the sun comes up or goes down. This was created in July, thus the lemon yellow and the name.

The dark band across the middle stands out in relief and was created using thick gesso scored with rubber combs. The grooves recede and the resulting thin shapes are reminiscent of grass, trees or marsh reeds.

This textured band in the midsection is covered in a layer of shiny sheer glaze making it glow against the other matte parts of the painting. The picture vibrates or glows as you look at it.
