Contact us.Maryna Aleksandrova is a contemporary master of mixed media, a Ukrainian artist born into a family of artists in Kyiv, and currently based and working in Bulgaria.
Her artistic trajectory is defined by a unique synthesis: after receiving an academic education in painting, she spent over two decades at the forefront of the digital art industry as a Lead Artist. This extensive professional background endowed her with an impeccable sense of composition, scrupulous precision, and an exceptional ability for visual construction. The long-term fascination with fine art photography also heavily influenced her visual language.
The transition from pixels to canvas was motivated by a deep need for tactile contemplation and a desire to create tangible art that inhabits real space and imbues it with an organic feeling of lightness.
In the foundation of Maryna Aleksandrova's work is the philosophy of Metamodernism—a balance between irony and sincerity, minimalism, and rich texture. The artist aims to offer a new, contemporary reading of the eternal themes of nature, infusing them with a philosophical mindset and a sense of serenity.
Her pieces intentionally balance on the edge of abstraction and figuration. The strict, almost geometric structure—a legacy of digital art and photography—is used to counterbalance organic elements and a soft palette. Compositions are often constructed as a series of visual 'frames' or squares, where meditative abstract spaces merge with detailed fragments, capturing organic beauty.
Maryna Aleksandrova's style is defined by her experiments with mixed media. She uses acrylic and oil on canvas, integrating modern textures such as sand and transparent mediums that simulate water to give the works relief depth and organic tactility. The use of potals, pearlescent, and gold pigments is applied to capture and reflect light, creating the effect of an immaterial glow on the surface.
Ultimately, Maryna Aleksandrova's paintings offer a unique emotional and aesthetic experience, where structural purity is combined with the philosophical lightness of Metamodernism.
