About The Artwork

Sunrise/Sunset is part of an ongoing series of landscape paintings which I have produced using heavy, thick impasto acrylic paint applied with a palette knife. The composition is minimalist and is based on the landscape close to where I live which is an area of reclaimed industrial wasteland, formerly used for coal mining. Stylistically the artwork is inspired by Vincent Van Gogh, Welsh painter Kyffin Williams and the German painter Gerhard Richter. Although I would class the piece as expressionism, some of its passages are pure abstract. I wanted to see if it was possible to paint a landscape in the colours of a kingfisher - turquoise and orange. It was painted on 13 October 2018 onto 6mm MDF wood panel primed with dark grey gesso.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

I am a painter of rugged landscapes following the tradition of Welsh painter Kyffin Williams and Vincent Van Gogh. In my recent work the palette knife has taken over from the brush and I am more interested in the effects of impasto paint and the act of translating experiences into images.
