About The Artwork

This is part of my ocean series. At the same time it is a stand alone based on the fairy tales "swan lake" and "The Six Swans". It is dedicated to my daughter along with a poem I wrote. Swan Lake (variation no.1)
08.08.2021 for my daughter “Walsh”
A swan with a dagger in its breast. “Pierced but not dead.” Goethe “Uns bleibt ein Enderest, zu tragen peinlich” (“There is left to us a remnant, difficult to carry.”) Nobody lives happily ever after. There is a lake in the middle of the forest, classic fairy tale. It is snowing, but the pines are green, they are always green. The prince left a long time ago, gave up because the princess never played her part in the story, other than that she was everything- the lake the swans the poet who drowned in the lake (but that is another story) the prince the brothers turned into swans, by a curse she is the curse the evil wizard that placed the curse and for whom to break the curse she must take a vow of silence and knit shirts from starflowers. Starflowers grow in the dark in the woods, little white stars on the black dirt, stars of heaven growing on earth, according to folklore. She must cover her brothers with these shirts by a certain hour, by a certain date, She does not quite make the time, one brother’s arm is not covered. He will always have a swan wing. His left arm, that was to be an arm, a wing now always ( How many brothers were there?) Nobody talks about how special this brother became. A man with a swan wing. Magic. Of two worlds. This is the impossibility, This is the happiness It is her herself this story The lake is frozen. Spring will come and it will thaw.

www.melorawalters.com short film of me within my art : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SsX0qNgT4Ug “When I paint it is not just creating a painting, it is the act of painting. It is transmitting a feeling into a canvas, the act of applying the paint, the movement, almost a ritual”. Walters is an American painter whose work explores the meaning of being alive. She is deeply interested in psychology and human experience, and explores these topics through varied media, including oil on canvas, enamel, analogue photography, sculpture and pencil. Her inspiration comes from philosophers and psychologists such as Carl Jung, Joseph Campbell, and Marie Louise von Franz among other intellectuals. Walters addresses emotional themes with pared-down directness and intensity, often portraying ferocious animal archetypes and exploring mythological narratives. Her work been exhibited in New York, Los Angeles, and Berlin. “My original love and inspiration is the terrifying risk of being vulnerable. This is what guides me, what holds me, is mythology, Ancient history. Art. Nature, for if it is touched it is no longer wild. Mirrored by the organized chaos of the universe, the abyss, the dark void. Being and Nothingness. My dreams. My love.”
