About The Artwork

I want to illustrate the forces of nature that we are subject to. They make us feel humble, and perhaps force us into new, unknown directions. Elements are turning upside-down. The balance is drawn against the impossible distortion, and the ends are collected and balanced with the vibration of a nerve. The subtle and undiscovered land is ready for search. Acrylic, pencil and spraypaint on paper. It will be shipped in a tube.

Ragnhild Joest Harbeck (DK, b. 1969) member of Danish Visual Artists – (IAA International Association of Art) RJH is a visual artist, living and working in Copenhagen, Denmark. Painting is her primary media - acrylic, pencil and mixed media on canvas and paper, in the field between figurative and abstract art. In her work, RJH is preoccupied with the ongoing chaos/order interaction and the narrow distance in between. In each piece of art, she is searching for her own invisible rules to apply to, in her effort to arrange all the fragments into the turbulent space. She wants to illustrate the forces of nature that we are subject to. They make us feel humble, and perhaps force us into new, unknown directions. Elements are turning upside-down. The balance is drawn against the impossible distortion, and the ends are collected and balanced with the vibration of a nerve. The subtle and undiscovered land is ready for search. Spending her childhood on a farm in the countryside and her grown-up life in the city, she is naturally influenced by the contradictory conditions and disunity between the countryside and the city. She is investigating the notion of freedom, with an awareness of both the narrow and loose ties around us. “...also other pieces of artworks reach out to something aesthetic and abstract, as Ragnhild Joest Harbeck’s distinguished, almost tasteful acrylic paintings.” -“Politiken” (Danish newspaper), art critic Peter Michael Hornung.
