About The Artwork
The Matriarch has to do with the great generation, grandparents, family, and the era of WWII children. Resiliency, toughness, spirit, strength, wisdom, intuition as well as stubbornness, fear, ignorance, inflexibility, conservatism, and lack of emotional maturity go hand in hand with the expressionism of this piece. Oil and permanent marker were intuitvly chosen to represent the malleability and permance that the great generation inflicted upon the boomers. Paper was chosen as the foundation to create the piece on to represent the vulnerabilty and fragile nature of this generation as well.
