About The Artwork

The ocean is more than a mass of salty water filled with sea life. It is a substance that is constantly in motion, pushed and pulled by the gravitational forces exerted on the Earth by the moon, and to a lesser extent, the sun. Without tides, life would likely be very different on Earth, as tides and the currents they cause help mix and move microscopic life nutrients that make much of life possible. Watching the tide change can be a form of meditation for me. In this painting, now in a private collection, I tried to depict, in simple gestures and basic colors the energies at force in the seas.
