In this series of egg tempera paintings I bring attention to the shocking surreality of 'pre-determined fate' by way of Sophocles' Greek tragedy "Oedipus Rex" + 80's special make up effects of "Splatter horror movie" such as 'Evil Dead', 'Demons', 'Day of the dead' etc. When we follow Oedipus' journey, from beginning to end, we become overwhelmed by the killing feeling of despair - eternal despair. My objective in this work is to emphasize the haunting atmosphere of pre-calculated doom and death. To unknowingly live a life which has been controlled by exterior forces and cannot be changed. That is FATE.
