From my new wax works series this is "Take me to the Sea" -a beautiful sculpture-like seascape in soft blue and turquoise colors that feels like a misty day at the sea, waves and water splasing, mist in the air, fresh and alive with lots of marks and structures on the surface, just like nature itself. This painting was done in many color layers on wood, most of it being waxed and treated with heat (Encaustic Art), so it has a very interesting surface that is half shiny and very nice to touch. The wooden box it is painted on can be hung directly onto the wall or be put in a nice floating frame. But the sides are part of the painting and painted, too, so framing would take something away of this sculpture-like artwork. Signed on the back, comes with Certificate of Authenticity. Based in Germany, Gesa Reuter’s artistic practice started in 1996. She has since studied the techniques of the old Dutch masters, layering selfmade gouache, egg tempera and sometimes oil to build her paintings with different layers of paint from thin to thick. Recently she has discovered the power of watercolours and ink in her work, enjoying the way the watery materials leave marks and traces to describe her inner feelings and emotions. Rather than painting an accurate visual representation of a landscape, she prefers to use the power of memory; her artworks are an expression of her feelings and emotions in the moment of experiencing the landscape." (Inside Artists, Issue 9, Summer 2017) So far, her works have been exhibited in Germany and Europe, mainly sold to private collectors in Germany, U.S.A., UK, NL, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, to architects, small companies, private medical and psychological practices. In public collection of Amateras Foundation, Bulgaria, NHS England and Kunsthaus Stove, Germany.
