• I am lucky to have experienced an extraordinary event during my childhood that still serves as a source of inspiration for my work. • You see, a semitrailer carrying paint lost its load on my City street. • So the City did the most logical thing. They came and unloaded heaps of sand on the paint, attempting to cover and wick up the mess. • In many ways, that street is and will be a source of magic for me, but it also served as a lesson in perception. • What I see and experience is not the same as what you see and experience. • That is true of art, but it is also true of any moment in life. • We are complex, multilayered people living in a complicated and challenging world. • I rarely share this, but right now you are looking at my art and likely calling me an artist. But at a time in my life, some have called me their nurse, others an addict, yet others a fire fighter saving their home, and to others a gallerist and custom framer. All would have been true. • You see, underneath the course outer veneer that we use to protect ourselves is more than likely a beautiful mess sure to inspire each other. • I invite you to look beyond the surface, feel through the frustration of what has been hidden and really look at what remains in plain sight just waiting to be discovered.

People ask where I get my inspiration for my paintings. When I was a kid, living in a dusty farm town in California, I watched a tractor-trailer carrying hundreds of 5 gallon paint cans lose its load right in front of my house. A million gushing containers of paint exploded before my eyes. The cracked and traffic worn pavement became an abstract painting that continues to influence my work to this day. As the little town grew up around "my painting", I sadly watched the decay that suburbia and 'progress' imposed on it, swearing that someday I would recreate the wonderment of that day when God rained paint on my street!
