About The Artwork
Many years ago I lived in Northern Scotland and visited many of the Islands for example the Outer Hebrides, Shetland and Orkney. While there I made several drawings of the old lifestyles of the inhabitants. I hope that the viewer will enter into the painting with a sense of actually being part of the old life of t he crofters. Watercolor gives the precious gift of translucency and adds to the mystery of the the Isles and weather. Realism is my preferred style because I have always wanted the viewer to feel the life of an island crofter.
