The Beech Painting

One time in the forest I met that tree. The forest, as we know, is full of trees, but that one was mysterious. I stopped and began to watch it for a long time. After coming back home I still thought about these shapes, roots, and traces of cut branches. I hope that in the painting I conveyed at least a part of this strong impression. The technique of painting I call taking excess paint. I covered the whole board with green paint and took out the excess creating the shapes of the beech. That technique allows emphasizes the structure of the tree bark, the most important part showing the character of the tree. The second reason for using that technique was to feel free giving an emotional character of that surprising meeting with such a unique tree.
