About The Artwork

This painting was inspired by the trip my father, Robert Manry, took across the Atlantic Ocean in his small sailboat,Tinkerbelle. This particular image deals with his experience when, due to extreme fatigue, he fell prey to hallucinations. He imagined that he was in the grips of an evil old soul called, "McGregor," who commanded a demon choir. The louder the choir sang, the higher the waves would rise. Fortunately, my father made it back alive.

I was born in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1954. Began drawing and painting before I reached the age of 10. Attended a variety of art schools but learned mostly from observing other artist's works. My primary interest has always been the human figure placed in myriad situations and surroundings.
