About The Artwork

Welcome to the twelth stage of my "Journey". My serendipitous approach has begun to bear fruit. Certain areas of this painting have now started to take hold and establish themselves in a semi-permanent fashion (they may well remain in the finished piece). And now at update 12 you can see some close-up areas to illustrate my above comments. The rate of change will be much slower now as I begin to refine and build on shapes that I am satisfied with. When I reach the Final Destination I expect to have an intricate and colourful abstract painting in artists acrylics. I will continue to update my progress with an image update as time goes on. I have no end date for this piece. It is a personal exploration based on my years of experience, observation and designs. I started with a large stick of willow charcoal to establish "anchor points", but all can change...... Thank you for joining me on this personal "Journey" - a phrase so ubiquitous now in the media. I hope this "Journey" will develop before your eyes over time.....possibly months.....who can say?

I was short-listed (top 25) in the Jackson's Mussini Oil Painting Competition with my very colourful and textured painting of a Brass and Glass Still-life which is available to buy as an open-edition print on this site (the original is a small block canvas oils "Glass, Brass and Colour" 40 x 40 x 4cm). A life-long artist; producing work in a wide range of mediums; I often paint in either Acrylics or Oils. I have over 30 yrs experience as a Professional Photographer much of which gained on assignments across the globe. Although I was awarded a distinction in A level art many years ago I am largely self-taught, constantly following my own ideas and striving to develop my techniques. I am continuing to explore large geometric abstract compositions with textural effects.
