About The Artwork
I am fascinated by the design elements of Chalk Hill Figures in the landscape. In this painting of the Long Man of Wilmington I have used an aerial perspective to encapsulate the grandeur of this ancient figure set within the wonderful landscape of the South Downs. I have drawn on Eric Ravilious's beautiful watercolour of 'The Long Man of Wilmington' (1939) for my inspiration.
