The Measure Painting

"Measure" is a philosophical concept that everyone has encountered, yet remains somewhat elusive. Isn't that the truth? The human disposition leans in a way that contentment with current circumstances is rare, and the craving for more is a prevailing sentiment. Be it affluence, aptitude, triumph, joy, or well-being, a pervasive inadequacy persists. The fortunate, however, are those capable of halting at the precipice of desire, seizing the opportune moment. Elsewise, as ill fate might have it, the handles of an old Gladstone bag could snap at the least convenient juncture. Within the painting, a concealed yearning for luck transpires – the yearning for the bag to remain afloat. For, as Sir Churchill once quipped, his preference generally swayed toward wishing for good luck, not health or wealth – as history attests, the Titanic bore many in good health and opulence, yet solely the fortunate emerged as survivors. Curiously, it was Gladstone bags that carried gold and jewels aboard the Titanic.
