The small painting shows a landscape in the North of Norway, by Tromsø. We can see a significant mountain, im the horizon, on the island Kvaløya, the whale Island, and a large stone at the sea side. The small Island in between is called "Håkøya". The landscape motive is painted in summer, there is still snow on the tops in summer time in the North. "Vaara" means mountain in kveni language. The measure is approximate, and a little uneven on the sides of the paper. App 25x19,5 cm is the most correct, not possible to be this detailed in the artworks schema.

In a multidimensional world, art brings visibility to different viewpoints. As an artist with a minority background, I will present artistic expressions from the viewpoint of the Kveni people in the north of Norway. The Kvens as a people belongs to the cap of north, the kvens was originally situated in the north of Finland and Sweden, in Tornedalen and Bottenviken, and goes far back in our history, Many kvens lived in the north of Norway, and became a minority, with a different language and culture. The Kveni people experienced Norwegianizing in modern time, suppression from the government. Very few were to inherit their culture in modern time because of the suppression. I will try to understand what it means for a human being to loose identity and culture this way. I will also try to understand more deeply the historical roots of the Kveni people, like my grandmother, the last person in my line, to speak the Kveni language. Thematically, works are found within a conceptual tradition, or as representations of the stories of the Kveni people and their historical landscapes. This page will change as I start to bring forward new works, in line with the artistic statement.
