A strong influence on Angela's work has been the colours and style of Gauguin, David Hockney, Giovanni Maranghi and Mick Rooney RA. In addition, her graphic training has influenced not only what Angela is naturally drawn towards in other artists work but in the way her style is has developed in fine art.The Fractions series of paintings were inspired by the different perspectives people have when they are in the same situation. This mismatch of perceptions is part of everyday life and reveals more about us than we realise. Not wanting to be too pretentious about meanings, the wit and fun of a picture is paramount to the artists joy of execution.Colour and composition are used to express the emotional interplay of joy/sadness, hope/apprehension and winning/losing. Sometimes the narrative has undercurrents that are quickly grasped whilst others rely on visual clues and interpretation.Angela is particularly aware of colour in everything around us and the way it affects our moods. A chance encounter of a man-made or natural set of colours working together has the ability to spark happiness or awe but only if the mind is receptive. Having more time to observe and feel the world around us is a luxury that is now enabling Angela to build on technical skills and stretch into art for enjoyment rather than art to fulfil a brief.
