About The Artwork
Inspired by the tragedy in Orlando, this painting is a response to the event that occurred on June 12, 2016. In the painting, there are two male figures. Are they friends, lovers, brothers, father and son, or complete strangers? It is up to the viewer to decide. My painting is about looking at cultural beliefs that state men should not express emotion, love, or vulnerability. It is a message that -if taught to everyone - can prevent shootings such as the one in Orlando, and can unite us to each other during times where connection is rare. I put all my energy into this painting, I hope it can heal many, and I also hope it inspires those who observe it to live in a more loving manner. The pulse inside us is all the same.
