About The Artwork
When I first decided to paint professionally, I discarded with my furniture and used my lounge as an artist studio - hence a red carpet instead of paint covered floorboards. This particular model was a favourite of mine. She had trained as a ballet dancer, but chose to pursue a career as an a model. The pose may owe something to La Grande Odalisque by Ingres and The Rokeby Venus by Velázquez.

Having lived and worked in the “real world” for the twenty odd years after leaving art school, I decided I did not much care for it. I returned tentatively to art and painting in 2005, and now work full time as an artist from a studio in Eastbourne.
