The Rocks Are So Old Painting

The landscape is based on a photograph I took off the coast of South Australia. I liked the interesting rock formations. I imagined how old the rocks were, and how short our lives were in comparison, and coupled with an interest in the Victorian era, decided to place a girl from that era there, who is overwhelmed by the awesome smallness of herself and brevity of her own life in comparison to the vast geological age of the rocks and time in general. I felt ink couple captured the detail quite nicely for someone not overly skilled in painting landscapes, and it added a nice almost comic-book/graphic novel quality to it, an unusual combination.
