About The Artwork

This painting, inspired by Edward Munch's THE SCREAM, depicts the difficult situation faced by traditional fishermen in the third world. Factory waste water is dumped into the sea on a massive, uncontrolled basis, polluting the sea water and causing many fish to die and become unfit for human consumption. This painting speaks more to the issue of environmental control, especially at sea, so that environmental pollution does not escalate. vociferously broadcasting the tragedy of seawater pollution that caused many fish to die of poison, a fisherman who appeared on the beach was shocked to see many dead fish washed up on the beach. There was not much he could do but widen his eyes wide while screaming in anger. The burning face full of anger and grief from the helpless fishermen seeing the sea polluted with factory waste compels us to think and to take part in the fight to prevent more and more massive pollution of the environment.

I was born in the city of Malang, a highland city in East Java Province and now live in Jakarta. I am a self-taught artist, having had no formal training. My hobby for painting started to grow when I was 4 years old when I could already hold a pencil. The walls inside the house are silent witnesses to wild drawing activities expressing the images in my mind, whatever they are. This madness has allowed me to pursue painting from a unique perspective, unencumbered by ideas or techniques formed in the surrounding environment. I have honed my skills and developed my painting style over the years based on my observations of other people's paintings. Visiting many painting exhibitions over the years taught me to develop an interest in painting in various styles. This is based on the fact that painting enthusiasts in Indonesia are very diverse. However, there are still very few fans of modern painting. Realist and naturalist style paintings are more popular with the public. However, the many exhibitions in representative buildings where modern style paintings were displayed ultimately attracted my interest more. Paintings that express freedom and a mindset that is not bound by applicable dogma and rules.
