About The Artwork
I have long been fascinated by The Sleeping Gypsy by Henri Rousseau. I devised an abstract concepts in my favorite medium - metal nails as stencil and spray paint on canvas. It did several smaller canvases but they could not quite hold the gravity this work brought. I settled on a larger canvas and worked beautifully. For me the wild cat is walking way from all the atrocities committed by humanity to our home - Earth. As authority walks away the global society's face is awoken in grotesque abstraction reminiscent of Guernica by Picasso.
