About The Artwork
This is the famous Tower Bridge in London as it would have looked over a century ago. In this unique painting, I imagined the historical London with the first motorized vehicles crossing the Thames. A typical cloudy English sky makes way for the afternoon sun, its warm light reaching the tops of the tower, and reflecting on the metal of the buses. Patches of fog drift over the river. This painting was inspired by an old autochrome photograph by Auguste Léon. I added my own colors to this subject, as well as extra details, such as the traffic on the bridge and the steam ship. Watercolor on strong and archival Saunders Waterford paper. Unframed.
