About The Artwork

I was inspired to paint this after a visit to a sea life centre that had a glass tunnel, it is my imaginary idea of what us humans would look like if we were viewed from a tunnel running around and whizzing by achieving our daily lives. I want the viewer to stop and look and take time to think about the painting, I wanted to include copper and copper gold foils to add a feature of light to the painting and a free feeling that there is fun even in our daily chores. I chose canvas, acrylic, oil wax and foils as I am trying to use what I have in my studio and not to buy new products, to make my work more sustainable for the future by using only secondhand or natural sustainable materials

Hello I'm Tania, I live in rural Kent with my husband , grown up children and various animals. Having recently completed a degree in textiles, I have found that more and more I love to paint and draw, sometimes I use these images for fabrics but more often than not I just paint and loose myself in the moment. I like to work in layers, creating texture and interest with both liquid and paste medium, I use oil sticks, ink, powder paint and acrylic paints, I am very fond of metallic paints and foils and use them in a lot of my work. I use my life experiences, and the beautiful natural world around me for my inspiration. I find that I like to work at scale and don't often use a brush, preferring instead to use my fingers and squeegee or sponge. I am experimental and like to try different applications, materials and ways of working. I am always trying to get more texture in my work often resulting to sand, salt and plaster of Paris to achieve this. My work has been exhibited a Rochester Art Gallery, New Designers 2021 online and UCA Rochester graduate showcase. I currently sell my fabric textiles at various craft fairs and shops in Kent
