About The Artwork

The poem Nineteen Hundred and Nineteen by W. B. Yeats. I have used his symbolism. That the painting will draw attention to the poem. Acrylic is easy to work with and fast drying so suited the short submission date for this work to go into a festival in Ireland celebrating the writing of W. B. Yeats. The poem is about Ireland after the 1916 rising in Dublin and the destruction of the things that for Yeats were beautiful. For him the Swan symbolises the soul and he writes of weasels fighting in a hole - as he sees it - the participants whose motivation may have been questionable.
