In this work, memories from my childhood were painted to the big concept "home and spring". The picture shows the village of Kalwosh, which is located in northern Iraq. The green veil that envelops the village bears witness to spring, a special season in northern Iraq. It is very dry here in summer and only the orchards are green. As a child I visited this place quite often and was constantly in the mountains and valleys for hiking or just for a short walk. Especially in spring I enjoyed lying in the meadows, feeling the cool grass, the smell of the grass to smell and to forget everything around me. It is these memories, captured in colour, that gave rise to the work. I can still feel those powerful moments like it was just yesterday

My name is Gulshan Rokzad and I am 39 years old. I was born in northern Iraq (Darbahndikan). Because of the situation in Iraq, we came to Germany with my family in 1995 and I was in the 6th grade of elementary school. I successfully completed my secondary school leaving certificate in 2002. This was followed by various internships and worked in various jobs. I successfully completed a two-year professional training course at the fashion school in Nuremberg in 2015. In the full-time training I learned design, construction and color theory. I've been very good at painting since elementary school and my art teachers believed I could draw and paint. This is how I developed my passion for art. From a young age I was already busy with sketches and drawings in order to have a spatial imagination. For 2 years I have been painting with acrylic on medium and large canvases and I keep challenging myself. Over the years I have discovered my own art style: Impressionist painting. I take my time with my works and paint layer by layer. My works show my thoughts and my emotional states, as well as memories. The special memories and moments, as well as memories from my home in northern Iraq. My hand is moved by my emotions while painting. In my works I also show a relief and a way out or the achieved goal of having arrived. Each of the works has a story to tell.
