About The Artwork

2,343 years ago (325 BC), a Greek from Massalia (Modern French Marseille) named Pytheas sailed around the top of Britain and called a Headland as "Cape Orcas" ("Boar Head"). Later he sailed to Islands North of Cape Orcas, which he called "Orcades" , ("The Islands of The Boar People" )(Modern Orkney Islands). Thereafter people from modern day Greece, Albania and Anatolia populated the Orkneys and the Moray Firth Coastline where they established Tribal Settlements using Animals as their Totemic Tribal names, such as The Boars, The Bulls, The Eagles, The Ravens and The Salmons . Each Tribe had a War Banner of its Totem Animal and Ancient Carved Stone Images of Boars and Bulls have been found along The Moray Firth Coastline where the Net used in this Installation was found by the Artist washed up on Lossiemouth Beach.
