About The Artwork
From my first solo exhibition 'Visions and Voices'. Both trees symbolize the road left behind towards a journey that opened up multiple doors. What comes across as sexual trauma, I rewrite as sexual enlightenment. I ran away from home at age 14 because I heard voices. When I returned home I was different person. This journey marked my recognition of awareness of shamanism or that of schizophrenia which I have only realized 22 years later.
