The last ride Painting

The painting was inspired by the passing of my grandfather who grew up near water riding schooners and rowboats(he actually rode the bluenose when it was used as a fishing boat. So it seemed fitting that his ride to heaven was also on a sailboat where the sails were down. I hope you as the buyer feel the calmness there is when you know you have lived a full and happy life. Water and blue brings the calm, no regrets, and one can achieve what they want.( that's what my grandpa did. 92 years old when he passed. I work with acrylics as they are forgiving, and also because you can use other mediums such as a fine structure paste to help make the boat actually 3 dimensional. (Also because I work in a shared art studio (with a number of other artists). I am an impressionist in my style. I like the softer lines of Impressionism,while you still know what the subject is.
