About The Artwork
The initial concept for this series was to create a literal depression, as a reference to the mental state of depression. Here I decided to try using the depression within a landscape. The subject is Shelburne Point, Vermont. I was surprised to find that the end result reminded me of the entry point to a space/time wormhole. The hole is suspended with plastic filament from a 3D pen (see detail pic). I am particularly fond of the texture the encaustic wax lends to the sky and water in this piece.
