The artwork series with the geometric pattern depict the way the human brain constructs reality. In a seemingly unconscious process, the brain perceives things, puts fragments together, adapts them to each other, emphasizes certain details while blocking out others. Our brain constructs a coherent construction of reality. This artwork series is an expression of this act.

Moritz Jäger (1983). Born and raised in the Swiss Alps in Arosa and Chur, Graubünden, Switzerland. Currently living in Zurich. I am primarily a painter. But some time ago, I began cutting the paintings before weaving them into each other. My work reflects on the thought patterns in which the human being perceives its surroundings. When we look at the world, we never see it in its entirety, we give more importance to certain details while blocking out others. Our perception is very selective and fragmented. But still, in our minds we build it up to a seemingly whole picture or narrative. What results is not the reality, but a wonderful image of reality, fragmented, but still perfectly accomplished in its own right. My work is an expression of this process.
