I was imagining what it would be like if the deities who watch over us were benign, mischievous, cheeky little creatures, who took care of the universe in a playful way, like little children. I figured they would probably need somebody serious just to keep an eye if things might go wrong. Hence the guardian hyena. They've been playing tennis with the sun, to make it rise, for so long, that they have evolved raquet-hands. It's all very wonderful and silly, and tickles me every time I look at it. I worked in oils and used a sfumato technique to make it look all the more believable.
