About The Artwork
I traveled to Maine with my wife Mary and completed a series of paintings that depict the coastal areas that we visited and loved. This painting shows Thunder Hole in Arcadia National Park outside of Bar Harbor Maine. Thunder Hole is a natural cavern where the ocean surges into and creates a loud booming sound like thunder when the water bounces off the back of the cavern wall. Depending upon the tide, the sound can be quite loud. The views from the ledge overlooking Thunder Hole are well worth the trip to the park.
