A bit of fun. I wanted to create an unusual composition and capture the movement of the dog as well as the sense of potential movement in the water and the angularity of the pool. A bright red ball floats in a very appealing way in the pool while the dog, tongue hanging out figures how the ball will be retrieved.

While my painting is typically representational – some pieces move into abstraction. I usually pursue a particular theme for several years running or until the question/investigation has run its course. Currently I'm focused on dogs and fish. My background in sculpture informs the way I think about constructing or building a painting- placing figures together in postures of my choosing.
