About The Artwork

Sunflower, happy flower which appears to follow the direction of the sun as it blooms, displaying faithful loyalty towards something brighter than itself; in a vase, it has lost its ability.
In this work, I created a playful symbolic depiction of contemporary concerns.
Nowadays faster than ever humankind are heading towards reaching crossroads of consumption, over producing, over extracting, over consuming, our modern tragedy. Plastic and entertainment plague sit on the foreground, whilst the symbol of global warming irradiates the background.
After indulging in an opulent theatre dining experience, the main character takes the stage. He seems to be caught in a V-shaped vice and his destination is uncertain. Hope is also tangible as a liberating energy flies across the scene, black cockatoos, a warning perhaps, it is time to create new ways of thinking within ourself about the world.

I was born in 1986 in Montpellier, France. Straight after university, i embarked on an adventure and left France. Spent about 9 years in Australia. In 2016, I decided to return to my native country to study the old masters and to dedicate myself to painting. I am now back in Australia, a full-time painter living and working in Melbourne area. I have crossed paths with great artists who have greatly influenced my work, such as the sculptor Éric Chatalin and the painter Nushka. What is the aim of my artworks? I never set out to create a particular response from the viewer, it is definitely out of my control. However, if for a moment, anyone feels at the sight of one of my paintings time is slowed down then It would be the ultimate dream for me. I like to think that people can escape through my paintings. Contemporary life offers very little respite. Painting can be a cure: by slowing down time and creating connections between people, sharing experiences. Today I am exploring the structure of figuration, between realism and abstraction, I seek the necessary balance for a painting to exist by itself, no need for interpretation or meaning. It's a sensory experience, it is alive, and I am definitely, for life.
