I wanted to work with different consistencies of acrylic painting, then in this series some areas are done with a very fluid paint, and others with a very material paste, that allowed me to scratch and carve on it. I began in an abstract way, and the subject comes by itself in the course of painting. Ready to hang, signed on the back.

Marta Grassi is an Uruguayan artist living in France. Her work is imbued with the imagery of South America and the magical realism of its literature, populated by imaginary characters. These women, shamans, fairies or witches are strong and powerful and appear to us in an environment just evoked, going towards abstraction. They stare at the spectator and seem to question him. The viewer is free to interpret the intention of this gaze on him.
