Shany Porras is an artist who translates music into abstract paintings, drawing inspiration from the melodies, harmonies, and rhythms of various musical and visual genres. Porras holds a B.A. and B.F.A. in Painting and Printmaking from Rice University and has been affiliated with prestigious art organizations, including the National Association of Women Artists, Inc., the Cambridge Art Association, the Guild of Berkshire Artists, and the Berkshire Artists Association. In 2023, Lee Bank acquired one of Porras's notable pieces, "Translation No. 1 of Nocturne Op. 15 No. 3 in G Minor by F. Chopin," demonstrating the recognition and value of her work. She has received accolades for her work, including an Honorable Mention for her "Music Translations" series in the Conception Art Show in Boston. Her most recent solo show, "Abstract Harmony:Dissonance" garnered recognition by the Berkshire Eagle. Porras's art has been featured in various publications and exhibitions, garnering attention from critics and audiences alike.
