About The Artwork
Some people wonder where I get my ideas. I got the idea for this painting while out on a winter walk in our neighborhood. I was looking at all of the bare trees - nothing but branches - and I imagined how much prettier they would look if they were topped off by roses. I did a little investigating and found there is no such thing as a tree of red roses. Perfect. Since we're in the midst of winter, I decided to put the tree on a snow covered hill with a simple blue sky to make the roses pop. My mother always loved roses and she used to tell me, "Someday, you're going to be an artist." This painting is dedicated to her. It's a simple painting with not much going on. But the more than 250 roses on the tree each had to be individually painted. I hope you like it!
