Painting: Ink, Watercolor on Paper.
As with all in my Twig and Ink Series, this was created with a twig dipped in ink. In this case I also used watercolor as a way to experiment with how color might tell a different story combined with the figure.
In this piece, the color itself seems to be responsible for lifting the figure into the air. Or is it the figure who is responsible for the magical color itself? More questions arise -- is the figure dead and coming to life, or visa versa. What is the color exactly - magic, toxins, or a metaphor for life itself?
All of the questions that arise from this piece can only be answered by the viewer because with all my art, I work from an almost unconscious place, trying as much as possible to leave the life and meaning of the work purposefully ambiguous. It is your story to tell.
