About The Artwork

This work was inspired by a desire to make art that is personal without being self-centered: artwork that uses and reuses materials which have been consumed, worn, discarded, and cast-off by me in the course of living my life but isn't necessarily about me. What remains is of me, by me, but not about me--and if the work begins to resemble a portrait, it is a portrait of someone I used to be. Old clothes and shopping bags and bathing suits and underwear are not unique to me; they clutter so many closets, the snake's skin shed as we grow. This piece is a diptych with dimensions as follows: Total Width: 66 in. Total Height: 40 in. Left Panel Width: 29.5 in. Left Panel Height: 40 in. Right Panel Width: 36.5 in. Right Panel Height: 28 in. Depth: 1 in. Ready to hang
