'Unconscious Love' is the follow-up painting from 'Genesis', and likewise it was made in a deep meditative state, where all I could sense was a beautiful symphony playing within myself, and me, the painter, was like an orchestra director instructing the colours so they could follow the symphony and in some way give it a visual form. As for 'Genesis' I used wooden sticks to create this work, moving them around really like an orchestra director does. After coming to know the power of painting directly from my subconscious (thanks to the experience with 'Genesis'), I've taken another shot at it: 'Unconscious Love' is the result of that effort. Likewise the previous experience, the act of painting wasn't just a mere action, but rather an inner journey of self-discovery. 'Unconscious Love' describes perfectly my need for being loved, and at the same time my struggle to show love to myself (and others). In that sense, I realised Love IS within myself, just buried so deep into my Unconscious Mind, and therefore so really hard to experience.

My art is about exploring and exposing the Human Being in its wholeness and complexity: what we can see, like the way a person looks, and what’s underneath, like a person’s story and emotions, her dreams, hopes and fears. For me each painting represents a deep journey into the labyrinth of conflicts, fears and stories that exist in most people’s mind, and also an intimate dive into the beauty of a person’s Soul, where her talents and dreams live. My process is a combination of logic, intuition and imagination, and it also involves going beyond what I’m rationally and consciously aware of, so the colours can fill the canvas from that space too. Depending on how much I’m able to let go of my need to control the process and my urge to give a visual form and meaning to what I’m painting, the final piece can come in the form of a portrait or an abstract work, or a mix of both. During the process, a lot of what is usually hidden in my subconscious comes to the surface. And although this makes it really challenging to understand where the line between what I’m painting and myself is, it also gives me a great opportunity for self-discovery and self-revelation. I work in acrylics. The way they melt together and allow me to paint different layers very quickly works organically with my creative process. I usually finish a painting by adding random splats of colour. These represent the uniqueness in every person. This also creates an adrenaline rush from the knowledge that I could ruin a good work in just a few seconds.
