My current fine art abstract photography and minimal painting focus on elements and artifacts from urban spaces and natural environments. The images document a momentary state, but also remind of their past. Shown in diptychs, triptychs or series, they offer a new reading – a narrative of associations particular to the viewer. Balancing realism and abstraction, these minimal fragments are mementos of existences forgotten or passed by – a reflection of evolving relationships to resources, processes and people. The rhythm and structure of the tightly framed image and textural combinations are inspired by concrete reduction, modern poetry, prose fragments and personal observations from nature and cityscapes. Analog visual haiku, with a painterly quality, they record the world around us and remind us of the balance of life, and our place in a larger context.
