This is a painting by the British artist, Set Aymot; who lives and works in Toulouse, France. We are looking at an oil painting, it's an abstract painting. Using abstraction, Pop-Art forms as counterpoint, in a contemporary antagonism of ideas, a modern, even Expressionist sense, to re-present a disturbance in the reception of this image by the viewer, you the audience. Amyot describes this process as 'interference' which 'properly re-presents our contemporary situation.' This is a painting about painting, a love of painting and of the paint surface. Amyot paints in oil on canvas. The canvas is mounted on board with generally a 10cm thick stretcher frame. Occasionally we notice acrylic components against the predominant use of oils; strident brush-marks and intense juxtaposition of form.
