I think paintings are actually the self images of a painter, at least they are for me. For years I've been kind of lost in my theory of the vagueness, that nothing is clear and for sure. Imagine that you are surrounded by infinite roads that you can't tell their differences, will you choose one casually and go forward without turning back, or will you lose yourself in the forever debate of going or not going? Now I've come to understand that the vagueness is a road itself and I am vague, so are my paintings. I realise that whatever I do, I'm doing it on the train of the time. So maybe after all I wasn't lost, I was just sitting and watching outside the window, without knowing that I was so far away from where I started.

Ruoqi Tang was born on April 8, 1986 in Beijing, where he was raised. He went to Italy when he was 22 years old and lived there for about 9 years. Now he lives in Beijing. He likes simplified, vague and unpredictable things. For him, clear expressions are limited. He believes that forms and colours have their inner energies. People can perceive those energies in their unconscious. Painting is his most effective way to communicate with others and to understand himself. He thinks that paintings are actually the self images of a painter, at least they are for him. For years he's been kind of lost in his theory of the vagueness, that nothing is clear and for sure. Now he's come to understand that the vagueness is a road itself and that he himself is vague, so are his paintings. He also realises that whatever he does, he does it on the train of the time.
