Urban Heat is an abstract acrylic painting depicting the dog days of summer in the city. In my hometown summer heat begins in April and lasts well into October. This painting was inspired by popular Brooklyn scenes of kids playing in the cool water of fire hydrants left running in the city streets.

I've always been defiant and a "think out loud" type of person but also rather spiritual, introspective and mild mannered. My personality is reflected in my works...I am passionate, I tend to gravitate toward bright, bold colors and strong lines one day and then warm, earthy tones with soft strokes the next.. I've never been much of a follower.... I don't always follow the "rules" in art. I don't even necessarily believe that art should have rules because I feel that it limits one creatively and it also limits the veiwer to believe what they should or should not be seeing...I think a mistake can be beautiful so I paint on purpose and let imperfections become part of the creation and lend character and individuality to the piece. While I am inspired by Clyford Still, Willem de Kooning, Jackson Pollock and Mark Rothko....I tend to paint according to me. I paint intuitively and go where the brush takes me. I adore abstract, expressionism and conceptual painting and love the freedom and self expression it affords. I love the creative process and the freedom of letting it flow. I tend to paint feelings, thoughts and moments and try to make the intangible; tangible. I paint most days and have few articles of clothing that don't have some paint on them! Painting is my absolute passion. I need to paint as much as I need to breathe. I usually have more paint under my fingernails than on my fingernails. Three things I did today.... 1. Spilled coffee down the front of my shirt 2. Told a bad, third grade joke 3. Laughed at both of the above Show Less
