Urban Portrait 1 Painting

I have been fascinated by storefronts ever since I set my tiny baby eyes on one. The text fonts and graphic signs, the products, the colors, the characters, logos, language, culture and so on. I want to call store fronts a portraiture of someones product. I may not always want the product, but the storefront sets a precedence for me to be interested in it. It's kind of like falling in love at first glance, but keeping the mystery present by crafting it into an art work. This was the first storefront illustration that I made before I decided to turn it into a form of series. I don't know how far I am going to take this theme, because I am already feeling like I am drifting away from them, but they definitely helped me grow. This storefront was a random discovery while I was jogging from the bus station located in Seokcho all the way to the entrance of Mt. Seorak. It was around a 10km jog, so it wasn't very intense, but there were a lot of things to see. I was keeping myself busy with my camera, taking snaps of random landscape shots. I was lucky enough to locate a traditional village. This storefront was the fruit of that jog, and I feel like it was the beginning of my interest in long, sweaty, random walks and jogs.
