Bunker V174_FuMO_214 was originally designed to house a marine radar for detecting allied ships. Although these bunkers were originally cold, hard, threatening monoliths the wind, salty air, seas-pray and shifting sands have gently manipulated them over time into listing, rusty, moss and lichen patched sculptural playgrounds. I have tried in this series of paintings to explore this change in value and the emotions attached to these now beautiful evolving structures.

His work almost always includes precious metals or gemstones. Michael is also a former associate lecturer in Fine art and photography at Leeds Art University and Fine art photography technician at Leeds Beckett University.
