Oil on canvas. This one of a series of paintings inspired by the changing colours, textures, usage and value of WW2 bunkers on the west coast of Denmark.
Bunker V174_FuMO_214 was originally designed to house a marine radar for detecting allied ships. Although these bunkers were originally cold, hard, threatening monoliths the wind, salty air, seas-pray and shifting sands have gently manipulated them over time into listing, rusty, moss and lichen patched sculptural playgrounds. I have tried in this series of paintings to explore this change in value and the emotions attached to these now beautiful evolving structures.
